OTHER - HATS FOR MEN (page 1 of 2)A hat is any shaped covering for the head, usually with a crown and brim, esp. for wear outdoors. It may be worn for protection against the elements, for religious reasons, for safety, or as a fashion accessory. In the past, hats were an indicator of social status. Classic styles of men's hats include the fedora, porkpie, derby, homburg, and cowboy hat. A hat consists of 4 main parts. The crown, is the portion of a hat covering the top of the head: open crown, center crease, center dent, teardrop crown, telescope crease crown, etc. The brim, is a projection of stiff or soft material from the bottom of the hat's crown horizontally all around the circumference of the hat: snap-brim, downturn-brim, wide-brim, curled brim, stingy-brim, etc. The hat-band, is a ribbon or band that runs around the bottom of the outside body of the hat. The sweatband is on the inside of the hat touching the forehead and is normally made from, cotton, twill, or leather. (Model wearing: Pinzano - Truman - Milan Straw Fedora Hat - Bamboo color)
